Hazardous waste means waste with hazardous properties that may adversely affect the environment and human health. Waste, characterized by one or more hazardous characteristics, corresponding to waste hazard criteria.

Properties predetermining hazard of waste:

* Oxidizing: substances and preparations which when in contact with other substances, cause strong exothermic reaction.

* Irritants: materials having no corrosive properties, which is short, prolonged or repeated contact with skin or mucous membrane, can cause inflammation.

* Harmful: substances and preparations which if inhaled, swallowed, entered through skin, may cause a health hazard.

* Toxic: substances or preparations which if inhaled, swallowed, or entered through skin, can cause serious acute or chronic illness or even death.

* Dangerous for the environment: substances, which introduced into the environment can cause immediate or delayed risks for one or more components of the environment.

* Disruptive: substances which if in contact with live tissues, can destroy them.
